Recently reformed from a 5+ year LARPing association, TriCity LARP is a gaming organization in the Southern Tier New York State and North Eastern Pennsylvania. Meeting on the first and third Saturday of every month barring holiday breaks, this community comes together for dramatic role play with the Minds Eye Theater Werewolf the Apocalypse system, as well as occasional horror games based on HP Lovecraft and Call of Cthulhu.
At the time of writing, the game is still in beta. All our players are learning the system, and most are learning the lore as well. Now is a perfect time to join.
The purpose of TriCity LARP is to provide a safe, engaging, and entertaining outlet for live action dramatic role play in the area. We are a welcoming and accommodating community, and all players of any experience level are welcome and encouraged to join. However, we are an 18 and over group. Further plans for growth include charity contributions to our local community, gatherings for socialization, and more.
Live action role play, commonly referred to as LARP, is a full body method of gaming versus traditional static tabletop role playing games. No dice are involved, and action replaces narration to create story and plot. Character interaction is encouraged and desired, and further discussion of in-game events is highly encouraged on our forums.
There are a few different kinds of LARP, and ours is a Parlour LARP, which means we focus primarily on story and acting. We don't use foam weapons, but we do have a system for combat and challenges.
Costuming is encouraged, and since our current story is a modern day setting, it can be a simple matter to pick up a few things at a thirft store that might fit your character's style.
In the meantime, check out the Getting Started section.
$10 Entry Fee, which covers dinner delivery and the rental space. You may bring a dish to pass, snack, or beverage. Bug spray and flashlights are suggested on nights we venture outside. Events are held the first and third Saturday of every month, unless otherwise noted below.
Below the horizons of the North American continent, the moon dips into the Earth’s shadow, creating a penumbral eclipse. Visible to all of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, the sun, Earth, and moon form a straight, yet imperfect alignment, creating a rather special full moon. It will be another four years before such an astronomical event will occur again, and in 2020, it will be visible from the Americas.
The form of a hunched and weathered old man gazes up at daylit skies, the throbbing in his bones tells him of events transpiring that he can not see, but is aware of all the same. Gaia quakes with the tremors of its awakening. An omen for good or ill? It has yet to be seen. His call has been carried into the Wyld.
They will arrive soon to this little, out-of-the-way town of sudden and immense import. Each one called, connected, and brought with purpose and hope that together, they will be enough. A great Caern Shard has been discovered, and Gaia needs her children to defend it, nourish it, and grow from it.
Depends on your backstories and character sheets. Get them to us.
For one reason or another, your character will arrive in Big Flats, NY. The may have a connection to the ‘old man E or know someone who does. Perhaps they had a dream, a vision, or the Spirits told them where to go. How much you know, or don’t know, depends largely on your character. The STC would be happy to help you determine this reason if you’re stuck. If you have an idea - run it by us! We’re excited to see what you all come up with.
